The Governance and Clinical Practice department serves and addresses members’ ongoing multidisciplinary practice and management issues. The Practice team develops relevant and timely resources that aim to provide members with best practices and emerging knowledge to positively impact the diagnosis, management, and treatment of gynecologic cancers. Resources include evidence-based guidelines, peer-reviewed practice statements, and guidance for medical coverage language. The Practice department provides project management oversight within the following committees: Clinical Practice; Wellness; Palliative Care; Program Directors Network; Health Policy and Socioeconomic Committee.
Governance works closely with the CEO to oversee initiatives that ensure SGO’s governance structure and operations are continually improving. Key activities include managing the Board of Directors and committee member appointment process, organizing leadership meetings, and supporting volunteers in their role as association leaders through development and mentoring. The team also works with the Professional Ethics Committee and Board of Directors to keep critical organizational policies up to date.
