Symptoms
Vaginal cancers can cause several symptoms, but these symptoms can also be caused by other conditions. (For example, some kinds of vaginal discharge are normal, while others can be caused by infections.) Unfortunately, in its earliest stages, for the first few years, vaginal cancer may not cause any noticeable symptoms at all. It is important for a woman to pay attention to her own body, know what is normal for her and what is not, and see a doctor about symptoms that make her feel concerned.
- Bleeding after sex
- Bleeding that is not connected with menstruation
- Vaginal or pelvic pain
- A vaginal lump
- Watery vaginal discharge
- Pain during urination
- Constipation
In cases where vaginal cancer causes no symptoms, it is still sometimes detected in a routine gynecological exam.
