SGO’s First Hybrid Annual Meeting Brings Record-Breaking Attendance
The SGO 2022 Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer in Phoenix, AZ, closed on March 21 with an official total of 2,840 attendees (composed of 947 virtual and 1,893 in-person attendees) representing 47 countries, including exhibitors and SGO staff. The previous registration record for an SGO Annual Meeting was 2,606 attendees at last year’s Virtual Annual Meeting. This year’s presented research included a total of 148 oral abstracts, 467 posters, 8 wellness activities and 9 social events.
At this year’s meeting, SGO recognized winners of the SGO 2021-2022 Awards as well as the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC) 2021-2022 Research Grants and Awards, and welcomed a new Board of Directors.
SGO was delighted to be able to offer a hybrid format this year, ensuring that attendees not able to meet in person for any reason could still engage with the education and networking opportunities of the Annual Meeting.
#BuildingBridges and #BreakingBarriers
This year, content was curated based on the Annual Meeting’s theme, “Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers.” Attendees were able to learn about health equity in gyn onc care, gender equity, how to build inclusivity into research and future treatments and more.

Virtual attendees engaged with SGO content from all over the country, including:
- 1,397 session chats posted
- 463 private messages sent
- 194 banner ad clicks
- Nearly 40,375 desktop/mobile pageviews
Social Media Stats
Attendees and the gynecologic oncology community at large were able to connect about the research presented at the meeting on social media throughout the event!
- The #SGOmtg hashtag was used 786 times on Twitter
- SGO Annual Meeting posts were seen 87,348 times, received 2,225 reactions, and 152 shares
- Video content shared during the meeting was viewed 3,346 times
