The SGO Coding and Reimbursement Subcommittee invites early career members with an interest in coding, billing and practice management to apply for a two-year SGO Coding Fellowship.

“Being the 2019-2021 SGO Coding Fellow was a phenomenal opportunity in many different ways. I was able to learn rapidly the language and nuances of how billing and coding work thanks to mentorship and training by the SGO Coding and Reimbursement Subcommittee members,” said last year’s fellow, Jolyn Taylor, MD. “I also was able to gain valuable experience and insight into the SGO Coding Subcommittee as well as the role our specialty plays within the ACOG and CMS coding and billing world.”

The SGO Coding Fellowship aims to educate early career professionals on coding and health economics issues, as well as provide the fellow with the necessary tools to advocate on the national level, develop educational resources for the SGO membership, and take a leadership role in this key area.

“I assisted in reviewing monthly coding questions submitted by our members, helped to revamp our coding library, participated in SGO Coding and Reimbursement Subcommittee meetings and the ACOG Committee on Health Economics and Coding (CHEC) meetings…This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of an aspect of our field that is vital to our financial future. Please consider applying! If you are selected, try to take advantage of every opportunity to be involved,” Dr. Taylor emphasizes.

SGO Coding Fellowship applications are due Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021.
