Announcement from SGO and FWC CEO Pierre Désy

It is with a mixture of emotions that I write you today to announce my resignation as the
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) and
Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC). My last day serving SGO and FWC as CEO
will be September 30, 2023.

To begin, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the tremendous opportunities and
invaluable experiences I have had the privilege to encounter during my seven-year
tenure with SGO and FWC. It has been an honor to work alongside dedicated and
passionate professionals in the field of gynecologic oncology, and I am immensely
proud of the progress we have made together in advancing patient care, research, and
education within the specialty. I hold our organizations and missions in the highest
regard.

While the decision to step down has not been easy, I firmly believe that change and
new perspectives are vital for sustained growth and continued success. I am confident
that the capable hands of the dedicated board, the talented staff, and the exceptional
members will guide the Society and the Foundation toward even greater achievements
in the future. I have full faith in the collective wisdom, expertise, and shared vision of
our stakeholders to steer the organizations in the right direction.

To that end, please know that I am committed to facilitating a smooth transition process
to ensure minimal disruption and continuity in the operations of SGO and FWC. I will
be available to provide necessary support during this period and to assist where
needed to onboard a new CEO.

I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has contributed to the
success of SGO and FWC during my tenure. I am truly grateful for the unwavering
support I have received from the board, the staff, the volunteers, and the entire
membership.

Finally, I’d like to reiterate my profound belief in the potential of SGO, FWC, and the
field of gynecologic oncology at large. I wholeheartedly wish for continued growth,
prosperity, and success in all organizational endeavors. I will closely follow its
progress, always rooting for the extraordinary advancements SGO and FWC will
undoubtedly make.
