Society of Gynecologic Oncology announces 2020-2021 Board of Directors

CHICAGO, IL (Feb. 10, 2020)—The Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) announces the winners of the Board of Directors election.

President-Elect II: Stephanie V. Blank, MD, is the Director of Gynecologic Oncology for the Mount Sinai Health System, and Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY. Dr. Blank has volunteered on SGO committees since 1998 and has been on the SGO Board since 2013. She is currently the Secretary-Treasurer of the SGO Board. Her term as president will run from April 2022 to March 2023.

Secretary-Treasurer Elect: Linda R. Duska, MD, is a Professor at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, VA. Dr. Duska has served on the Board of the SGO as well as the Society’s official foundation, the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC). Dr. Duska is currently a member of the SGO Palliative Care Task Force. Her term as Secretary-Treasurer will run from April 2021 to March 2022.

Board Member: Ilana Cass, MD, is the Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Dr. Cass has volunteered for SGO committees since 2005 and her most recent position was as a member of the SGO Wellness Task Force.

Board Member: Sean C. Dowdy, MD, is a Professor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Dowdy is currently the Chair of the SGO Policy Quality and Outcomes Taskforce, and has volunteered for various SGO committees since 2006.

Board Member: Paola A. Gehrig, MD, is a Professor and Director of Gynecologic Oncology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Gehrig is a member of the SGO Clinical Practice Committee and has volunteered for various SGO committees since 2008.

Fellow-in-Training Representative: Allison M. Saiz, MD, is a gynecologic oncology fellow at Northwestern University in Chicago and serves as a Congressional Ambassador for the Society.

The new members of the SGO Board of Directors will begin their terms after the Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer, March 28-31, 2020, in Toronto, Canada.
