SGO and the ASCCP have endorsed the American College of Obstericians and Gynecologists’ (ACOG) new practice advisory of the 2018 U.S. Preventive Services Task Force cervical cancer screening recommendations. The adoption of the USPSTF guidelines expands the recommended options for cervical cancer screening in average-risk individuals aged 30 years and older to include screening every 5 years with primary high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) testing. The USPSTF cervical screening recommendations replace ACOG Practice Bulletin No. 168, Cervical Cancer Screening and Prevention, as well as the 2012 ASCCP cervical cancer screening guidelines. A secondary purpose of the Practice Advisory is to comment on the 2020 American Cancer Society screening guidelines. Read the Advisory
